Quemado Lagoon

Subsurface investigation and distress evaluation for lagoon infrastructure requiring detailed geotechnical analysis.

The Challenge

When we first arrived at the site, we encountered a complex set of challenges that would test our expertise.

The Quemado Lagoon project required comprehensive subsurface investigation to evaluate existing distress and determine appropriate remediation strategies. Our team conducted detailed geotechnical analysis to understand the underlying conditions affecting the lagoon infrastructure, providing critical insights for effective repair and maintenance planning.

The Solution

Our approach began with detailed site evaluations including drilling operations, test pit excavations, and in-situ testing characterized soil and foundation conditions, revealing critical insights into the lagoon's distress patterns. As we delved deeper into the project, advanced geophysical testing methods mapped subsurface anomalies and identified areas of concern, providing comprehensive understanding of the underlying geotechnical factors affecting lagoon infrastructure. Building on this foundation, systematic evaluation of structural distress patterns combined with soil properties and groundwater conditions to develop a comprehensive understanding of root causes affecting lagoon stability.

The innovations that set this project apart included integrated investigation combining drilling, test pits, in-situ testing, and geophysical methods provided comprehensive subsurface characterization, enabling accurate identification of distress root causes. Additionally, systematic analysis of distress patterns, soil properties, and groundwater conditions identified the underlying geotechnical factors contributing to lagoon infrastructure deterioration. Finally, comprehensive investigation and analysis provided actionable insights for remediation strategies, enabling informed decisions regarding repair approaches and long-term maintenance planning.

The Impact

The results speak for themselves. Comprehensive geotechnical investigation successfully identified the root causes of lagoon distress, providing critical foundation for effective remediation strategies. Beyond immediate success, detailed analysis and reporting enabled the client to make informed decisions regarding repair strategies and long-term maintenance planning, supporting sustainable infrastructure management. Perhaps most importantly, thorough investigation and actionable insights support sustainable lagoon infrastructure management, ensuring long-term stability and operational capacity.
